A beautiful monument has been erected in Karori Cemetery by the Chinese of New Zealand to the late Mr. Daniel Wong, who was a missionary, and who died in Wellington. The inscription on the monument reads "In loving memory of Daniel Wong, Chinese Missionary, who died 28th March, 1908 aged 42," and the inscription is repeated in Chinese, together with a verse. The memorial is in three steps, surmounted by a cross carved from Italian marble, and surrounded by a, blue stone kerb with marble on top. The whole is a, striking testimony of the gratitude of the Chinese to a Christian teacher of their own race. It has been executed by Mr. Mansfield, monumental mason, of Karori.Evening Post, Volume LXXVIII, Issue 16, 19 July 1909, Page 6
